When filling out a resume for my first professional programming job. When all I had were a couple of months in a restaurant, a summer in a factory. It took all the flowery language a 19 year-old can muster, but I still couldn't fill out an entire page. That's when you got to resort to intramural sports, and a stint with Campus Wellness for extra credits.

Yeah, the above intereview reminded me of that.

OK, it’s really an ad, but I actually rewound and watched it again. No, I’m not looking for a phone, but I like their ad format. This has much potential to other stuff… Hmmm…

Is it even possible to do 100 push ups in a row? I never thought so. Until I heard about hundredspushups.com. They promise to train you to do it within 6 weeks or sooner.

So, what you’d do is to take the initial test. Since I could do 24 in a row, that places me at rank # 3, that is week # 3 on the 6 weeks schedule.

So, this is my week 3 schedule based on the initial test. I’ll see if this program has staying power :)

Indie Faye, Freddy Man, whatever... How did the sub-prime mortgage crisis happen? This American Life did a pretty good episode on it, entitled “The Giant Pool of Money.” Surf over their site for the transcript, or just listen here. Needless to say, there were lots of scoundrels involved.

I recently saw the debut of Microsoft’s new $300 millions ad campaign to counter those “I’m a Mac ads”, and I have to say, I’m confused. I’d always thought that Bill would make a great pitchman, like what Dave Thomas did for Wendy’s. Although, Bill had a reputation, over the years, of being a tyrant, his public image seems to be that of a lovable nerd.

So, here’s ad # 1

After watching it, I thought it felt disjointed. Perhaps it’ll make more sense as part of a series. Although, that’s never something you’d want to say for a debut to anything. But what I noticed was Bills quick, short lines. I fired up Excel and plopped in the transcript.

Bill had 1.9 words per line. That’s autism territory.

Come on ad people, let Bill talk.
